Anna Knutson has been a Digital Strategist and Account Manager at Funk/Levis in Eugene, OR for two years, and had a lot of great advice to give during her Personal Branding Workshop. Anna stressed that personal branding is what will get you a job, and will make you stand out in a crowd of applicants.

What is a personal brand, exactly? It’s a personality, a position, and a promise.
During her workshop, she suggested that we ask 3 questions of ourselves in order to develop and strengthen our personal brand:
  1. How would you describe your personality?
  2. What makes you the best person for the job?
  3. What can your employer expect in every interaction with you?

In her opinion, you should always keep your outline of your personal brand up to date. Additionally, you should consider it when creating your resume, writing your cover letters, applying for jobs, and curating your own social media profiles. Everything you provide should be a reflection of your personal brand which, in turn, should be a true reflection of yourself.

In terms of applying for jobs, Anna recommends applying for a lot of them. She applied to at least 75 different positions before landing at Funk/Levis and Associates.
